the word of the day is sprezzatura. it's the first time i ever heard of it. i borrowed it from the philosopher who borrowed it from baldassare castiglione. there's no precise translation to english so it's not an affectation to use the italian. it means something like nonchalance or studied carelessness. it means to steer away form affectation, to conceal design, to show what is done is without effort and almost without thought. dogs are good at this.
