the gingko tree in r.'s garden will be cut down tomorrow. it got big quickly and is dropping many seeds and little seedlings are sprouting in r.'s garden and the neighboring plots. so it has to go. miyoko will be sad too, she loved the tree and she loved the fruit. the gingko is a symbol of longevity and endurance, hope and peace, and memory. they can live 1000 years and they survived the u.s. bombing of hiroshima. but this gingko will be wood tomorrow.
