chicago versus the great lake was long ago termed a stupendous piece of blasphemy against nature. i think the new york times article will cause some much needed critical thinking about the jackson park land grab and construction project of obamaland, another piece of blasphemy against nature. maybe the article is like a glitch in the matrix, a stutter in the simulated narrative of civic progress is exposed as what it is, a brazen theft of public land for the creation of a private enterprise that will cause more climate chaos disruption of nature and displacement of community. we can still hope and not just resign ourselves to being the perennial dupes of profiteers and the victims of dubious change. what would be sensible especially in the midst of the environmental crisis we've created is to stop the land grab and give the land back. it won't happen in the city built on swampland, but the water will take the initiative while we deny the nature of reality.
