the only ex-presidential monument bigger than obama's is the washington monument. a measure of the size of his self-serving hubris. he builds it for himself. it's been years in the scheming and the protest has been brushed blithely aside. i just now found out about a website: Re-Envisioning the Obama Foundation Center Post Covid, and i'm looking wistfully at moving pictures from the sky of a site by washington park that would have been fine and where his millions could have helped a neighborhood. he could have made a park like jackson park connecting a series of vacant lots and planting trees and waterways. he could have made something vital and beautiful rather than taking something vital and beautiful and making it his private enterprise. he could have added to the wonderful legacy of the public parks instead of taking from it.   but his mission has always been privatization, not the common good. dissenters and denizens that have not the wealth and power to save themselves, their park, and their neighborhood, shall be displaced.
