s.:I remember reading a late medieval caution that eating saffron could make one overly joyous and now this pops up! (an article saying how saffron is good for depression) I have a 14^th century recipe for gourd soup that uses it. Now I know what to do with that extra zucchini.  It begins rather violently, “Tak yonge gourdes and smyte hem in pyces.”
