extinction rebellion 2.oh (it got a little darker), a little clearer. i heard some time ago, late summer maybe, that extinction rebellion uk had been greenwashed—corporatized—mainstreamed. first i thought, fuck. fuck us. then i thought maybe that report itself was greenwashing-brainwashing. so i relaxed, figured there's always machinations—we're living in a vast neuronal human machine, with bits of green (threatened, blasted, vanishing).
yesterday i sent extinction lulu pix to extinction uk, got an autoreply. this morning i listened to an interview on clearing the fog, with co-hosts margaret flowers and kevin zeese on the popular resistance site, speaking with cherri foytlin and bea ruiz, members of extinction rebellion us. they say that extinction rebellion uk has been undermining the movement in the u.s. because the movement here centers on climate justice. i'm stunned but not surprised. xr uk has become a climate brand it seems, greenwashing for the corporations, mainstreamed for the masses. it is heartbreaking, but these are heartbreaking times, and i'm glad to know what happened, and what is happening now, here, the movement is resisting the colonization of xr uk and keeping the focus on climate justice, justice for the poor and indigenous who have to live in this drastically abused environment. it is hard to track what is really happening these days, but we will keep trying.
now i'm going to reach out to extinction rebellion us which is forming it's own coalition independent of the extinction uk patriarchal colonizer. pshew-ee!
