thank you audubon society of chicago for helping to save the paul h. douglas wildlife sanctuary and wooded island and jackson park for the migratory birds, and those of us who love them and who live here year round. thank you for saving our park from privatization by the obomba fundation. thank you for doing the right thing. for the birds. for the people. for the love of trees to nest in and green space in which to breathe.

update: this post was facetious, knowing that audubon has not signed on to save the park or the sanctuary, and sincerely hoping they would amend that egregious failure to protect the birds and finally do the right thing.
when i told charlotte about this post she wrote back:

Hi Doug:Thanks for following up on this.

Since filing this lawsuit in 2018, I've written Chicago Audubon seeking its support, but received no response.   I did not know that Judy is its president.

I understand Judy Pollock is among the landscapers hired by the Obama Foundation. If my understanding is correct, and Judy does have a conflict of interest, she should not participate in any discussion or decision making on an Audubon position on the OPC construction.

I couldn't locate your blog thanking Audubon. But, I know of nothing Audubon has  done to preserve bird habitat in Jackson Park and prevent its destruction that deserves thanks.  What Audubon has done is keep silent and give tacit approval to chopping down an irreplaceable urban woodland to construct an unnecessary 4-unit complex that includes a bird-collision prone Tower.  As noted by Pat, "The CAS has long known my opposition of the destruction of Jackson Park and have ignored me, and refused to join in the fight to preserve the Park."

and then i got sick to my stomach. so the head birder president of audubon has been hired by obomba to landscape around his 23 story tower in the park. sorry birds!

if pollock is working with obomba i guess there is no hope in her advocating to save the park he wants to confiscate. pat, i feel sick. it sounds like she's one of the corporate greenwashing experts.
ugh.
