jean watched comet and hilde for a good while until we started talking and i learned her dog just died two weeks ago and comet started bring her his ball. she was a teacher at ray school a long time ago and walks by here regularly to look at her old schoolroom from the path. this school has changed radically since her day, as all schools have, the ones not closed or turned into charters. we started talking about fascism and trump, but she wrinkled her mouth in disgust and we both said let's not talk about that now. and so we continued to talk about dogs, and i asked if i could put her in the blog, though she hasn't had a computer for a long time and doesn't miss it. but she has pictures of her dog and reminiscences, and i told her how good it feels to have a blog to share thoughts and memories and dogs with and she said she will get one soon.
i have extra walks with them while mary heals from wrist surgery. comet hasn't left her side in the house, he's a worrier, he's always licking hilde's eye that has a growth. he gets protective too. freddy was there and i think he's a little anxious of dogs and comet picked up on that and got anxious too and barked at him. i took him over and he licked freddy's hand, but then as they were leaving he barked at him in the long hall, so i brought him near and let him get freddy's scent, the whole scent, not just the fear, i hope.
