yeah, i wasn't even gonna mention isle of dogs but sarah asked if i had and i didn't think so but r. said i didn't and r. likes wes a lot and gets upset when i disparage him but i wrote this to sarah:
did i mention isle of dogs? i don't think so. it reminded me or clarified the reason i dislike wes anderson: he sucks as a storyteller. he just adds a lot of stuff and plows on without just telling a good story, he accumulates bits of his mind on film rather than communicating. he's inventive with the visuals, but boring as fuck as a storyteller. he just can't tell a good story. he has the desire, but lacks the heart.
the people talk in an arcane language that requires constant translation, and the dogs talk in english like famous actors all talking for wes, endlessly, mind-numbingly, saying too many words, and in the end (which came before The End, in our case), saying nothing that makes one wonder and lingers like a smudge in time where art wants to be.
