good morning, scrumptious. hello again. how you feel.
i got the changeling from the library. how did i not know joy williams so long.
ordered beuys and others.
saw a movie from poland, it looks pretty from a distance, that lingers after it ends, grim but with a quiet compelling beauty, something ineffable, fateful in the characters. something wendell berry touches on, about small communities disintegrating, dying. i will look up the directors. it had a similar feel to herzog's heart of glass. but that was in the alps and about a whole village being hypnotized into a trance. this one is about the history of poland from genocide to disintegration, plus globalization and the demise of rural community. they talk about a family that drowned themselves in the river out of fear. but that was before, and they weren't poles. they were jews i guess. terrorized.
