| I watched The Next Man, starring Sean Connery as a Saudi Arabian diplomat in the seventies. He showed the distinct map of conquest over the arab world that was already well underway then, long before 9-11, but that spectre was explicity conjured in the film. when he comes to address the u.n. in new york he gets in a helicopter and circles the twin towers. he is reviled and killed by arab leaders and non for being stupid and audacious enough to advocate peace over profit for the elite. it's far and away in sophistication from any movies that can get made today. as bloody as it was then, it still seems clairvoyant and idealistic. |
