It's astonishing enough, after all, that regardless of what ideology is used to legitimate acts of violence, there are always people to be found, in every country, who will carry out this violence, either with pleasure or at least with dutiful obedience, who will adopt the system's terror as their own calling without even being forced to—at least as long as the system proclaims their innocence.
