open season on open spaces

from national monuments to city parks and other significant sites large and small throughout the united states. open space is threatened by confiscation, development, energy and resource extraction, and other incompatible uses.

the threats to open space go beyond physical alteration and other deleterious activities. they extend to the remnants and legacies of many different cultures, often spanning multiple generations, embedded within those landscapes.
significantly, the confiscation and privatization of open spaces denies equal access for all to vital public amenities.
