the eye of fentima.

i found this amulet at that sad sale. we looked it up and learned it's a hamsa, hand of god, or eye of fatima, an ancient middle eastern protective sign of happiness, luck, health and good fortune, a protection against all negative energy. it didn't prevent what happened to it's last owners, yet who knows what fate we are supposed to fulfill. maybe an amulet works differently according to the individual, or couple. you have to wonder about destiny. does it evolve, or devolve, does it get corrupted in evil time and place, like this horrid experiment america? how does the fate of a people or nation relate to individual fate. or is there fate at all? are we all just subject to the dark will of progress, the horrid wind of the angel of history? some desperate peace activists who are completely devoted to the hope of muslims and jews living side by side in harmony wear the eye of fatima, the shining one. there may be many who wear it in america and in the middle east and africa as a protection against america. anyhoo, i'm going to believe it found me and via me the fen, for a good and true reason, and not some hullabaloo airy fairy notion, i'm going to believe it will protect us from the envious glares from people wishing us no good.
