it's in the air- it's coming

now i'm reading in the age of acquiescence and thinking bout progress. what was the age of innocence like? was it innocent? i'm sure they didn't call it that then. was it then the age of illusion?  have we always been innocent and illusioned and acquiescent? and the dissenters? forgiving.
