i'm reading the loneliness files. i read about a japanese word, hikikomori, it means to withdraw, and to be inside. it's probably different in japan than here, they have forest bathing and also a forest where people can go to die in peace and quiet with the trees. i used to be more afraid of the world, i still am, but i feel more at home. it's the time of year for hikikomori, and maybe also the time of the world.
hi, honey boy. i miss you. well, it's autumn but it's more like winter today. it's been a while, though i'm not counting the days. i hope you are in a good place. it's a crazy ass world here, but we're bearing witness and keeping your memory alive. i miss your sweet raspy voice and your delightfully droll sense of humor. i don't miss getting up for you every two hours throughout the night, but i would be thrilled to do it again. penny has gotten older faster it seems since you left. she's slowed down some but gotten sweeter too. she doesn't say it, but i know she misses you dearly too. i hug your absence like i hugged you.
