Perhaps we have to think more seriously about caregiving and vulnerability as a possibility of becoming a community. The Italian philosopher Roberto Esposito explains that the words community and immunity have the same etymological origin, munis, meaning to be fragile, to be exposed. If immunity denies fragility, community, in contrast, implies sharing it, making fragility explicit, exposing oneself. —Daniela Rea, Fruto
Yesterday I was thinking about people not wanting to live in reality. Not wanting to be hurt.
I was thinking how the development in the park is supposed to be about community, and how people give Obama immunity, undermining community, and from there I think about how we give rapists and murderers and scoundrels control over our lives. We sacrifice community and pay for the killers' immunity.
