it fascinates me to see how dogs respond to dead things. i recall how tender hilde was with a dead bird. she confirmed the bird was not sleeping and then wondered if she might adopt it as her own. lulu tried to wake the bird gently and then with a soft hum skipped along her way. when we came back she simply glanced down at the bird and stepped over without a pause.
