the unending attraction of nature, by max peintner
for forest-the unending attraction of nature, by klaus littman
the drawing was made in 1970 and hand colored in 2018. the forest in the stadium is there now. i love this melancholy image. it makes me feel good and sorry. haters threatened to come with chainsaws and someone pushed littman into traffic shouting go away and take your shitty forest. there's something uniquely poignant about life at this time. of course when i think of forest i can think a forest of different thoughts and memories of forest, or even just trees that live in the city, that never are allowed to become a whole community, living in communal isolation like humans. i think of clearcut mountains in british columbia, with a viewing screen left for the auto viewers on the highway. and the burning amazon, and alaska, and california, and everywhere where trees are killed and burned alive. and i think locally of trees i know that are marked for death in ground zero obombaland.
