an eleven year old boy was arrested for refusing to recite the pledge of allegiance. circa 1970 i did the same thing, but i didn't get arrested, even in central illinois, nor did i get dosed with psychotropic drugs to dull my wits and ease my hand to cover my wild sad heart and conform and consent. mister's eleven now and he'll never take the pledge, thank dog indivisible. i'm happy to say i never did take that hokum. i wish i could shake that kid's hand and give him a hug. by the way kids, the supreme court decided in 1943 kids don't have to recite the pledge, nor give allegiance to a rogue state.
