Lawyers for the city and park district told the court in a June 28 brief that the lawsuit was “premature” because the City Council had not yet enacted an ordinance authorizing the work or approved terms of the construction with the Obama Foundation. A judge put a stay on the litigation.
i always get my head in a twist over the manipulative language of legalese, and i suppose that is precisely the point, but really, i don't get what the above is even saying, other than they bought the judge. everything but everything is for sale in chicago, it's a criminal enterprise run as big business, it's a corporation, beholden only to the money. anybody can buy or sell anything they claim with power by immanent domain. you got it, we want it we take it.
yeah he's a slick operator, as many wall street criminals are, but he's not running a shadow government anymore. we're in the neighborhood he wants to steal, and we are watching his every sneaky move.
