that's such a melancholy song, we can change the world. it was melancholy then, the singer didn't come to chicago. like most with a talent for self-preservation, he avoided chicago, as one said, like the plague. from a distance you might have said, for the purposes of a good song and the morale of beleaguered fans, it's starting to get better. it has gotten so much worse. in a way, since life continues, it's always starting. it has to, or else what? but now there is no peace, no justice, and endless war. how could it get worse? we are about to see. it's starting. when we remember a memory we remember it like a song.
