i was thinking about lost causes.

what is a lost cause.

what does lost mean. i thought how i got mister because some boy who didn't understand called him a lost cause. so he was lost to that boy, and found to me. i thought about the time in shawnee forest i was lost and i found a large bed of old, old moss and lay down on my back looking up at the converging pines and i cried with happiness, i am lost! and suddenly i knew i was lost for a purpose, to find myself and find my way, into the forest and through the forest and out again.
i kept on finding lost causes, 'cause i'm a lost cause too, continually finding things in my lost way, all the things that make me who i am.
i thought a lost cause is the only one worth having. i picked that up somewhere along the way. i thought how would anyone be found without first getting lost? 
i thought, if we lose the green space, if we lose the park, it's not a lost cause, it's a lost park, it's everybody's loss. and if we lose it, if the community loses, we can still be proud of our lost cause.
