bird walk report, saturday december 2. sadly r. missed the walk as she had to address a leak at mom's place and sadly would miss the sandhill crane pilgrimage this afternoon. turns out there will be no pilgrimage today, so we found the birders in the parking lot watching this beautiful hawk.
i think we have to live in equipose between hope and despair. there are forces massed against the poor, green space, and wildlife. they will annihilate anything in their path and call it community development, but opposition is growing. maybe we can stop this insidious destruction of habitat and maybe not. but we won't just lay down and give up without a fight.
listen to this.

neighbors are getting organized to save their green space.
please, this is all of us, all for all, don't let private enterprise confiscate our green space. city's are vital for the preservation of life now. cities are habitat, not just human enterprise zones. no matter how technological we get, nor how developed, we still depend on nature. we cannot live healthy lives in technology and the constructions of consumer society without green space. a world colonized by developers is a world emptying itself of life, for the profit of a powerful few.
do i repeat myself? it bears repeating. please save the midway, save jackson park, save some green space to generate new life. https://savethemidway.org
on behalf of the birds and dogs and children and all kind of innocent creatures, thank you.
