i should have said simply, this is a yellow billed cuckoo. this was. a yellow billed cuckoo migrating north. uncommon and inconspicuous in dense brushy thickets such as swamps or fields. solitary. long periods of sitting and watching broken by smooth sinuous movements through branches to feed on caterpillars and other prey gleaned from twigs and leaves. song a guttural, hard, knocking series in rhythmic pattern ku-ku-ku-kddowl-kddowl...; also deep, dove-like cloom repeated with long pauses; or a fairly rapid series of single, hard tok notes on one pitch tok tok tok tok....
