the board wants to know exactly where my leak is. though it's been the same place through my tenancy. it's always news to the board. i say who knows where my leak originates, board, just tell me you will fix the roof. i can't say from where this board originates. i suppose it's always been here.
i went on the roof yesterday. i found the winter crow, feathers and bones slowly separating in a tangle of black wire. i picked up the skull. i opened the beak. i talked to myself quietly. i pulled some loose skin. a little blade came away. i said what is this. i touched it. it was the tongue of the crow, still moist.
i put the skull in my bathroom window, between the grey rain and the dripping faucet, between the sky and my body, washing in the cold piped rain.

| remember that crow on the roof, laying in the end of flight, black on silver-white? |
