i was looking at the tore up path,
watching some go left by the arrows
and some go down the path itself where some anarchist
had ripped up the yellow tape,
and some going my way where the broken asphault
they been dumping for years spreads out through the tough grass
and i suddenly realized how some would follow any direction

who would if they got there first
have taken their own path
