in theory i like pop-up books, but in reality they're annoying and don't work well. there was a lot of cheap gimcrackery ostensibly for kids that only served to annoy them and cast adults in a dumb light which they earned. mother goose is bizarre and as we would say, retardo. i reckon it's still the same way or worse now.
