i got this madonna from a st. thomas church sale. the preacher said she was with the christ in the basement and someone cut the head off the christ and he felt sad for the madonna and so decided to let her find a new home. i know she never dreamed she'd end up on drexel boulevard in a studio apartment with the likes of me—and she won't, because i moved to vista homes and she will be re-homed again, god knows where this time.

n.b. the preacher did say they might try to re-attach the christ's head, but what if they did and he woke to find the madonna had split the scene?
