oh, mercy. i was reading allison adelle hedge coke, look at this blue, a poem about extinction, and then i was reading her essay about marvin gaye writing mercy, mercy me (the ecology), how he gave his father the gun his father murdered him with, how he tried suicide, then told his brother before he died he couldn't do it himself so he made him do it. i remember i was in l.a. sitting in my car listening to mercy, mercy me (the ecology) and the d.j. telling me marvin gaye is dead. when i look at the destruction of the park i hear the song and marvin gaye is alive in my ears. he's here.
