i read a book that quoted a poet and i read a book of poems by her and then i was told she's a pretendian so i took her name off and now i'm thinking about pretendians. what and awful thing to pretend. i don't want to get paranoid, but it goes without saying there's a lot of pretense, a lot of pretenders,  a lot of propaganda, in the culture, in fact it's kind of ubiquitous. i remember the book, the people of the lie. even people who want the truth are stuck in a country that lies all the time.
