i keep going back to the word renegade, like water round a drain. obama and springsteen call their coffee table book renegades. two guys that got rich off the public. one had a great show and one is a smarmy charlatan, but the roads to wealth may converge. these guys know what the word means, surely. a person who deserts and betrays a country or set of principles, having treacherously changed allegiance. i know the meaning they want to have, but the book is an expensive doorstop. slick bound pages of dead weight, of arrogantly sacrificed trees.
