there was a shaker community in st. cloud, florida. i read about it in the magic kingdom, russell banks' last book. mom lives down in those parts but i bet she never heard of it. she lives nearby, in the villages, surrounded by trumpers in golf carts waving rebel flags. she said yesterday you better come down before we die.
