i looked back at the photos of the trees marked for death with red ribbons. the memory burns me.
people say let it go, it's a done deal, the park is obama's now, nothing will bring the trees back, but the widening of the disaster, war, societal collapse and the decimation of nature makes this plot more urgent, intensifies the focus, highlights the glaring injustice. every deliberate destruction of nature and the common good is the center. we're here, transfixed by the local disaster. there's nowhere else to go but here. those trees are gone, but we keep a log of the missing, and we're still here.
