goo'morning kids. yesterday i forgot to say we found a purple fritillary in the park. my brain was rather torpid with the winter dragging and my feet weary, my bike still at blackstone and walking everywhere, i wanted a sign of spring and found one i think, and then again it's not real, it's real torpid, a sign of false spring, a purple butterfly in january in chicago is maybe more foreboding than hope. it's not as if we need an omen to read the future now. we are so in it. in the time of despair there will be no more butterflies. if it's a paper butterfly, maybe i'm reading too much into it. maybe we'll still have a natural spring when the time comes, until then, kids, think thoughts of butterflies and walk and ride the season that is.
