i wonder if the words could stand up alone. a play it doesn't seem could do. 
watching happy days it seems the words would be stark on the page. 
that hill with the people planted and crawling, the black bag 
of all worldly possessions. the stupid gun. the grim slapstick expression. 
i guess eunice thought the words fell flat on their faces, and the pictured dogs 
were the thing. but that makes me sad, like i'm left behind, or i hold the camera 
like a leash. i guide, or i'm led. i don't originate. and it may be true as david 
says, beyond the dogs, and pictures of say, trees, 
i'm untenable, in human terms. 
is this sad, or am i just slow in accepting. 
but wait, what would eunice, or david say, of beckett. ha, 
even beckett might have called himself untenable, if only 
to forestall certain others from their sad pronouncement.
