a man was just found dead with several apparent bullet wounds at 6:37 on my street, 
less than a block from me. i know it's hardly news when so many are being killed. 
it's just unsettling when it comes so close to home. 
it's more unsettling to think how close from home is far away. the mind still makes a buffer zone. we used to think it happened in other neighborhoods, but it happens here now 
all the time. no matter where you go. 
now i think about the people we kill in foreign lands, who seem so far away. the killing here reminds me of them.
