labor day. i think the weather may cooperate and blast the laborious picknickers and save us all the extravagant pollution. a small quiet world was the little island. the heron was yesterday, so still while i browsed with the camera and copp with his canines. we saw winnie today on the south end where the missile site is buried. she was wounded by bike yesterday and emerged in shock yet miraculously intact. greyhounds are so fine boned. bikes are maniacal in the pursuit of speedy recreation. being a cyclist i know how we can be. being a walker and a dog man i know children and dogs and walkers are all vulnerable and must be deferred to. but many treat the vulnerable as intransigent objects or invasive species. in america. i was reciting in my head before thinking, the dog is my shepherd. and it's true, though it's a cooperative activity. i got a book from the free bin about the work of dogs and immediately read what i think about dogs myself and thought hey that's a smart book. then a gay gent on an island bench flirted with me and copp, saying he's beautiful! you're beautiful too! and it was funny not creepy.
