We watched Greenwashed last night. It's long, and the music can be irritating, and the host is kind of absurd, talking about exploring solution after solution, all of which turn out to be cruel optimism, or greenwashing for profit, and the final message is the one that's been buried alive in us since the 1970's — there are too many humans, humans exterminating nature. We ignored it and kept growing and expanding and now PFAS are in breast milk at 2000x the level in the environment and micro and nano plastics are in the tissue of our hearts. Ninety-six percent of the biomass on earth is human and livestock. We can cite the statistics but it's still incredible, so implausible as to elicit disbelief, what has happened here, and what we've done. We know our fate, and we're making it, but...but what? We can use less, consume less, but the government will try to expand until it eradicates life on earth.
