me and fen ran after a little girl who had kept straight on while her family turned a corner. i kept thinking she would stop and turn around but she didn't even glance back and was heading into an intersection and i didn't want to scare her so i called and fen caught up first and she looked so calm and asked, does your dog like kids? i said yes and explained the cone and mom caught up frantic and said, she just started doing this. and i said i watch dogs do it off leash and usually they reach an apogee and check in (in fact as soon as you remove the leash they directly make eye contact radiating appreciation) but a kid never having been leashed may not learn the responsibility of freedom the same way. the kid hasn't found her apogee yet, or maybe she has, on that particular corner.  happy thanksgiving, teva.
