I read Mare, and now Mass Mothering, about horses, ghosts, hybrid beings, and various ways of mothering. I just picked them off the shelf at the library, since the the books in my queue seem to be in a transit bardo. We saw Pig at the Crossing, about the bardo between the living and the dead, where many, increasingly it seems, may get stuck. There's always something left to do that will remain undone. While we're here what can be done must be done and what can't be done must be left undone. When our time comes we must step across the threshold, out of time. Meanwhile, baby starlings eat insects on the fire escape, and we're still here.
