i'm not getting into to photograph is to learn how to die. i think it's the book, not me. it's almost all quotes from other people. it reminds me of a painter i knew who rambled about his art only by referring to clement greenberg, til my eyes started glazing like the thick clotted surface of his paintings. maybe i'm being ungenerous, but why make a book of quotes with a title like that? maybe if i stick with it i'll get the gist of why, quote, to photograph is to learn how to die. so far it feels like a retread. no, i quit. why so many secondary words? maybe his photographs can speak for themselves. what can you say about art? too much.
