i'm reading werner herzog, the twilight world, about a japanese soldier who stayed on a little island 31 years after the war thinking it never ended. he kept seeing signs of war, assuming it was all the same world war. it wasn't like the fictional crusoe, this one survived 111 attacks. 

i don't know how it ends but i assume he gives up the island and the war.

i just realized and it's embarrassing but the person who told me charlie had connemara eyes must have been saying chimera, and i knew it but my brain liked connemara, the novelty of it, though chimera is more mysterious and cool.
