i finished the madness in civilization book feeling bereft as expected. it ends with the asylums emptied, the clincs closed, psychotherapy basically defunct, and Big Pharma the grand winner, with little to no efficacy , huge profits and often deady side effects.  one of the closing lines was something like, Chronic conditions, are chronically profitable. mind drugs, cancer, and War.
