I was dreaming about the unholy alliance between the U.S. and Israel and I woke up with my right hand stigmata itching. Before sleep I read On Evil, about how evil is unintelligible and incomprehensible. You can delineate the causes, like lust for power or land, or fulfillment of some crazy ancient prophecy, but beyond every reason in each evil individual lies a psychopathy that's historical as it manifests in time, but may be incomprehensible because it traces back beyond the individual or the present time. We don't find evil in the fossil layers, we just see life fossilized. Yet we do see evil in places like Dachau and Vietnam and Africa and Palestine and the United States in the mass graves underfoot. Anyway, it is what it is, and those who choose to try to be good, stay sane, and resist evil, will just have to live with it and make the best of it.
