What is hidden in this maelstrom is hope. Hope is savaged. Hope is sullied. Hope is treated as blasphemy. But authoritarianism is weak. Brittle. Terrified, honestly. It operates on a thin, thin tightrope because it depends on acquiescence. It can only win if good people do nothing and allow that shadow of the soul to spread.
