in the great derangement he writes about us being the thoughts of earth and the uncanny. if we are the thoughts of earth it does seem an uncanny phenomenon. why would the earth think us? we're marauders, we're plunderers and blunderers, we're rapacious villains. now what would make earth think us unless earth made oil to make us consumers and killers in order to self destruct?
