In Pompei, Below the Clouds the volcano that buried Pompei in 79 AD is still making perpetual clouds. People are anxious about irruptions, and looters make tunnels to loot buried treasure, and tourists wander the ruined city dreaming as the city continues to transform itself under the influence of the cloud maker Vesuvius. Here in the flatland mountains are made of refuse, and clouds are made from evaporation and factories.
