the book i read, metamorphoses, is about the transformation humans undergo, individually and collectively. we in this acute moment are undergoing a harrowing transformation where some are self-immolating, and some are being incinerated by powerful governments plundering the planet. all i can do is think, and try to understand, and perhaps consider that there is a deep time aspect to transformation that is beyond human power or comprehension. now i'm returning to those sentinel boulders we visited last week, with the lichen and the wind slowly dissolving them into earth, and looking up at the contrails above disappearing into clouds.
