we watched the film about leonard cohen's song hallelujah. it's really about his life in a song, and how he affected people. he wrote that song for some seven years and i guess was still adding lyrics. it went from religious to secular, sexual, and even shrek, which took out the religion and the naughty. i thought about jeff buckley, who sang the version everybody knows, who i peed next to in the green mill tavern before he collapsed drunk on stage, who wished he's written that song, who sand eternal life twice, the second time on his back, who walked into the confluence of two rivers in tennessee and drowned while leonard cohen made a comeback.
